Preparation Day: 103

He knows us inside and out,
keeps in mind that we’re made of mud.
Men and women don’t live very long;
like wildflowers they spring up and blossom,
But a storm snuffs them out just as quickly,
leaving nothing to show they were here.
God’s love, though, is ever and always,
eternally present to all who fear him,
Making everything right for them and their children
as they follow his Covenant ways
and remember to do whatever he said.

David, the king, in Psalm 103
An exalted man ponders his own brevity

  1. I really like that translation. Marking it to ponder a bit longer in some quiet. And I pinned that photo on Pinterest. Love the color and texture. Hope you have a good Sunday Lyla.

  2. This is such an ethereal scene. Delicate and airy. I’m just going to sit here a while.

  3. A breath, soft, drawing me in because He knows me, loves me. Stillness, peace and grace, a gift.

  4. One of my favourite Psalms! ‘As far as the east is from the west…’

  5. Such a good psalm! We used to sing this one at church. If you ever run across “One Hundred Three” by James Mark Gulley …

  6. The Psalms really do minister to me. The picture is lovely. It makes me thing of the fragility of life. But His love…..

  7. The blessing? Even though He knows me… my personality, my sometimes crazy decision-making addiction… HE LOVES ME! And He’s patient with me, and kindly matures and grows me and heals. Without Him there would be nothing.

    Thanks for sharing.

  8. Oh, I love this picture, the contrast between foreground and background, the muted colors and atmosphere. Thanks, Lyla.

But that's just me. What do you think?
